ESTHER BRYANTON (nee Engleson)

October 1929 - August 2017

On August 15th, Esther Bryanton passed at the age of 87 years after a courageous year-long fight with cancer. Esther was an incredible Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Her family was her priority, and forever grateful for her love and support throughout their lives.

Esther was born in 1929 in Taber, Alberta. As a young adult, she moved to Rimbey, Alberta, where she met Carl Bryanton. In 1949, Esther and Carl were married, and together started their first farm and family. However, after one hail storm too many, Carl explored work in the Alberta oil and gas industry while Esther managed the home and children. The lumber industry brought Carl and Esther to Hinton, Alberta, but eventually Carl's love of farming moved them to homestead north of Rocky Mountain House in 1959. There, they happily raised their family and were an integral part of the early Albertan pioneering front for 21 years. Esther's retirement years were active, and filled with world travel, sports, senior drop-in centres, and visiting her many friends and family. She lived in Rocky Mountain House, Rimbey, Calgary and recently Vernon, BC.

Esther was an amazing homemaker. She loved working outside on the farm and was instrumental in its success. She also excelled in floor and ice curling, bowling, horseshoes and enjoyed walking for her health, but her true joy was playing cards.

Esther is survived by her loving Husband of 67 years, Carl Bryanton; son Ronald (Irina) Bryanton and grandchildren Alexandra and Brayden; son Clifford Bryanton and granddaughter Deanne (Travis) and great-grandson Elias, and grandson Kyle (Yoyo); daughter Vickie (Tom) Teskey and granddaughter Carla; daughter Gwen (Bruce) Klint and granddaughter Renee. Esther is also survived by her brother Albert (Marilyn) Engleson, and sister Ada Hall, and two sister-in-laws, Edna Bryanton and Margaret Engleson. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Dorothy Bryanton, her parents Joesph and Honor Engleson, four brothers Roger, Cliff, Hartley, Roy and spouses, and 17 Bryanton in-laws.

The Memorial will be Saturday, September 9th, 2017 @ 2:00 pm in Rimbey, Alberta at the Rimbey Senior Drop-In Centre (5110 - 53rd Ave, Rimbey, TOC 2JO). In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rimbey Senior Drop-In Centre would be cherished.
