May 27, 1925 - August 10, 2021
Esther Ethel Marshall of Bentley/Eckville, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Bentley Care Centre on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the age of 96 years with family and friends at her side.
Esther was born on May 27, 1925 at Benalto, Alberta, to parents Waino (1895-1978) and Mathilda (1900-1954) Ignatius. Esther was predeceased by her one older brother Martin Ignatius (1924-1974).
Esther moved herself and three children to Bentley in 1962. Jack McCrindle (1951-2020) - Gerry McCrindle (1953-2016) - James McCrindle (1955-20##)
Esther then entered into marriage with Glenn Marshall (1925-2005) of Tees, AB in 1963. In 1977 Esther gained a daughter-in-law when Gerry married Sharon Berenak of Bentley. Shortly afterwards they provided her with two Grandsons Mike(1978) and Wade(1979). Mike provided her with two great grandchildren Kelsi(1997) and Wyatt(2012).
Asides from Esther's direct family she took in many, many people (to many to list) under her wings over the years. She had a very, very large extended family that she loved and respected just as much as each of her own.
She was the type of person that made sure no mouth was left unfed and no one had holes in their socks. She would never judge anyone and would always find the good in everyone while encouraging them to do their best.
Esther was well known for her gardening talents. Whether she was growing food for her many children or just beautiful flowers for us all to see and smell, she was very meticulously proud of her work.
Esther was also well known for her amazing talents as a seamstress after going to secondary school at the Southern institution of Technology in 1948. If there was a pair of jeans to be mended or an outfit to be modified she was always happy to help.
Esther loved being around people and enjoyed her time going to many of the local social events from the old time dances to the modern time gatherings at the local coffee shops and everything in between.
As per Esters wishes, a small private graveside service will be held at Kussomo, Alberta Cemetery.
If desired, Memorial Donations in Esther's honour may be made directly to the Bentley Care Centre, PO Box 30, Bentley, Alberta, T0C 0J0.
