Glendon "Glen" Harry FAWCETT

Glendon “Glen” Harry Fawcett of Rimbey, Alberta passed away suddenly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer on Saturday, May 23, 2014 at the age of 71 years.

Glen was born on May 25, 1942 in Rimbey and attended school in Lavesta, Bluffton, and Rimbey. He enjoyed various jobs throughout his life; a county grader operator, a labourer at Nielson’s Sawmill in Grovedale, Alberta, and he was also employed for a time at CWS and Amerada Hess. However, Glen’s one true passion was farming, and his animals were always his first priority. He also loved to venture out fishing and hunting, and he took the time to enjoy curling and hockey in his younger years. Glen was also an avid gardener, and to watch and feed the birds gave him much year-round pleasure. Although he never traveled too far from his farm, Glen was very well-read and aware of world news and events. He greatly cherished many friendships throughout his life, and the coffee pot was always on for anyone who visited. Glen will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.

Glen leaves to mourn his loving family: his sister, LaVerne (Harvey) Norstrom and family; his brother, Fred (Susan) Fawcett and family; his sister, Doris (Lavern) Galenza and family; and his sister, Joan (Rod) Bohn and family; in addition to special cousins, Lanny and Denise Dubielew and their family; and John and Jim Fawcett; as well as a host of additional relatives and many special friends. Glen was predeceased by his parents, Shorty and Laurene Fawcett; and two nephews, Neil Norstrom and Dale Fawcett.

With respect for Glen’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. An Informal Gathering of Family and Friends in his Honour will be announced at a later date. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later time in the Hoadley Cemetery, Hoadley. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Glen’s Memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences to the Family may also be expressed by email to:
