SZOKE, Gwen

Gwendolyn Blanche Szoke passed away peacefully in Beechy Saskatewan on November 14, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Born in Lacombe Alberta, Gwen was the third daughter born to John and Ivy Neal. She attended school in Rimbey and Bentley. In July of 1949, she married Mike Szoke and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in July of 2009 with family and friends in Beechy. Gwen worked for a time at The Bentley Red And White grocery store before they moved to High Level in 1972 where she worked as a cook at the hospital. They later moved to Revelstoke BC, Okotoks Alberta and Nanton Alberta before retiring to Beechy Saskatchewan. Gwen loved her family, enjoyed camping and traveling. Gwen was an excellent cook and many had the privilege of eating her baking and the great meals she always prepared. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Mike (2010) youngest son Stanley (2012) and her oldest daughter Beverly on Oct 1, 2013. She will be missed and for ever loved by her son Allan Szoke (Helen) of Brooks; daughter Linda Tuplin (Allan) of Beechy Saskatchewan and daughter in law Debbie Szoke of Brooks; her beloved 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; her sisters, Joan Dickau of Bentley, Daizie Williamson (Ted) of Ottawa Ont, Shirley Szoke of Rocky Mountain House; brother Howard Neal (Jean) of Calgary; sister in laws; Helen Psenak of Cambridge Ont, Lorraine Neal of Lacombe and brother in law Harry Lawson of Rocky Mountain House. She will also be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. The family hosted a Memorial Come and Go Tea in Remembrance and Celebration of Gwen and Beverly's Life's on February 1, 2014 at the Bentley Senior Centre.
