TRICKER

Harvey Alfred Tricker passed away on Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 at the Rimbey Care Center at the age of 92. He was born to Robert and Katherine Tricker on January 17th, 1921 in Swalwell, Alberta. Harvey will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sister Rosalind Bertram of Red Deer, nephew Robert (Linda) and their children Rhonda (Tim), Cathy, and Rob (Tammy) and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by three brothers; William, Gilbert and Charles and his brother-in-law, Pat Bertram.

Harvey was such a blessing to all who knew him. Everyone loved his wonderful inspirational stories of his life, whether it was stories of him as a hunter, a trapper, a farmer, or working the mill, the stories were always memorable. He could tell stories that would embrace you, and you could imagine yourself being right there with Harvey as his stories were so descriptive. You could see, hear, and feel right in that moment.

Harvey's door was always open to everyone. We would always love the feel and smell of the wood burning stove as you entered his home. You always felt welcome and you could enjoy a cup of tea with Harvey while he chewed snuff and told one of his stories.

Harvey was blessed to have many friends and family which allowed him to remain in his home for so long and for this he was truly grateful. His sister Rosalind was an excellent care giver. She cleaned his home, made him meals, did his laundry, canned vegetables from his garden, and took excellent care of him. She would also take him on little drives around the countryside which he thoroughly enjoyed. She also planned a very special memorable 90th birthday party where many family members and friends were able to come and share the special day with Harvey. Alfred and Annie Tricker made the trip from the Yukon for this special event. This birthday celebration really meant a lot to Harvey. Special thanks also go to Doug and Evelynn for checking up on Harvey a couple times a day, and also for feeding his horses and cats. Other neighbours which have helped him over the years include Bob, Lou and Roy, Ian, Harvey, Tony and Val, Duane, Nina, Denis, Tenus and many others. Harvey was very fortunate to have such a loving, caring, community around him.

Harvey was a kind, gentle, honest, loving and humble man. He touched many lives over the course of his lifetime and anyone who has had the privilege of meeting him will not forget him. Even though he will be missed greatly, he will continue to live on in our hearts through his stories, and will be remembered. Till we meet again our dear friend.

Funeral Services for the late Harvey Alfred Tricker will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 11;00 a.m. at the Rimbey United Church with Rev. Laing officiating. Interment will follow the luncheon at the church at the Swalwell Cemetary. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to STARS or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
