NADEAU, Hazel Florence
With sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful Mom, Hazel Florence Nadeau (nee Campbell). Mom passed away peacefully in Rimbey, Alberta at the age of 89 on May 18, 2012. Mom was the youngest of three children born to John Garfield and Eleanor Florence Campbell on March 14, 1923 in Vancouver British Columbia. Mom was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Aime in March of this year, her sister, Irene in 2004 and her brother, Murray in 1932. Mom is survived by sons; Murray (Jody) of Lethbridge, AB., Allan of Rimbey, AB., Blair (Glenys) of Ladner, BC., and her daughter, Lynda Kenney (David) of Rimbey, AB.; five grandchildren; Scott of British Columbia, Cameron (Kathleen) of London, England, Melanie (Jeff) of Airdrie, AB, Laura (Joe) of Ladner, BC, and Keith Kenney of Rimbey, AB, two great grandchildren; Matthew and Jeremy, niece, Denise Kallehan and nephew, Graham (Elaine) Thody of North Vancouver. Mom grew up in the beautiful Kerrisdale area of Vancouver and spent weekends at her grandparent's farm on Lulu Island (Richmond, BC). Mom met Dad when she was a nurse, stationed at Boundary Bay Airport during WWII. They were married August 4th, 1944, lived in Sechelt for a year, then moved to North Vancouver where they lived until 1981, when Dad retired from BC Hydro. They moved to Rimbey, Alberta for the next part of their shared journey where they resided for the remainder of their years. In addition to raising four children, Mom had a very successful 27 year career as an RCMP Matron. A most gentle, caring and giving woman of great strength and compassion, Mom was loved by all lucky enough to be touched by her kindness and humour.
Funeral services celebrating Mom's life will take place at the Rimbey United Church at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012. A private family graveside service will follow at the West Haven Cemetery. A very special thank you to Dr. Mike Boorman along with the fine staff at the Rimbey Hospital & Care Centre. In lieu of flowers, we would be grateful if you would contribute to the charity of your choosing.
