Helen Evelyn


Helen Evelyn Butcher (nee Haarstad), born May 25, 1926, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2017 at the Bentley Care Center. Helen lived in and around Bentley all her life and will be lovingly remembered by many.

She is survived by her daughter Pat (Owen) Ree, daughter Beverley (Phil) Hunt, and son Philip (JoAnn) Butcher; grandchildren Todd (Sandra), Karen (Murray), Brent (Mary-Sue), Geoff (Diana), Carli, Edward (Michelle) and Craig (Keely) as well as fourteen great grandchildren. Helen has two surviving sisters, Shirley Christianson and Evie Andrew, and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was predeceased by her parents Edward and Anna Haarstad, her husband Edward (Ted) Butcher and infant son Leslie Edward.

The family would like to thank Dr. Keller, Dr. Smith and the staff of the Sylvan Lake Lodge and the staff of the Bentley Care Center for their compassion and care.

Interment will take place on July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bentley Cemetery with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Blindman Valley Agricultural Centre, Bentley, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen can be made to the Bentley Care Center, The Blindman Valley Ag Centre or a charity of your choice.
