SCHMIDT
Mrs. Helen Marjory Schmidt of Rimbey, Alberta passed away in the Rimbey Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at the age of 101 years. Born on November 2, 1908 in Calgary, the oldest daughter of William and Edwina Shaw, she was raised in Calgary and Pincher Creek. Marjory married Edward Schmidt in 1933 and came to the Wetaskiwin area to make a home on the farm. They raised their five children there as well as in the Hoadley area. Marjory will be forever missed and remembered by her children; Doreen (Fred) Glanfield of Rimbey, Robert (June) Schmidt of Manning, Doris Schmidt of Rimbey, Jim Schmidt of Winfield and Gregory (Shirley) Schmidt of Nepean, Ontario. Marjory will be forever missed by her beloved fourteen grandchildren; Garry (Joanne) Marek, Sharon (Ken) LeLacheur, Melanie Quaife, Robin (Garry) Chuhey, Sandra (Dan) Kamienicke, Morgan and Bryan Schmidt, Derrick Dale (Karen) Warren Schmidt, Heidi and Wendy Schmidt, Christy (Fred) Cooke, Clayton Schmidt, twenty one great grandchildren as well as six great- great grandchildren. Marjory will be sadly missed by her youngest sister Gladys in Pincher Creek. Marjory was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1993, and her sister Dorathea. Mom loved to knit and crochet, was an avid reader and loved to play the piano. She was a long-time member of the Drop-In Centre and was the Happy Gang pianist for a number of years. Mom enjoyed her many years at the Kansas Ridge and Parkland Manor where she made many friends. Funeral services were held from Wilson's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium Rimbey, Alberta on Monday March 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. A private family interment followed in the Hoadley cemetery. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
