FISHER

Mr. Henry S. Fisher of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the age of 86 years.

Henry was born on August 31, 1921 at Portage LaPrairie, Manitoba. As an infant, he moved with his family to Cochrane, the family later settling in Rimbey when Henry was 11 years old. Henry’s ancestors were from Scotland, and he was a ‘true Scotchman’ who enjoyed his life to its fullest. He was a man of many talents, and worked in various occupations throughout his lifetime, always staying close to his fondness for the farm. Henry’s greatest love of all … was music! He was a fiddle prodigy, and was well-known in many communities throughout the province for his sensational fiddle playing. Henry enjoyed people and any type of gathering, and he would happily play at any function whether it was a wedding, a funeral, a family celebration or a community event. He often astounded those in attendance with his masterful skill on the fiddle … his warm smile and happy glint in his eye only helping to ensure Henry would reach you through his passion for music.

“He was a special man who touched the lives of many … and he will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and many friends.”

Henry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 29 years, Fern; his son, Jack (Debbie) Fisher of Rimbey; his three daughters, Moira (Dave) Gates of Rimbey; Myrna (Larry) Nadworny of Sherwood Park; and Mary (Todd) Nelson of Grande Cache; his two stepsons, Bryan (Brenda) Gallaugher of Wetaskiwin; and Robert Gallaugher of Stettler; and his two stepdaughters, Dianna (Garry) Hammond of Alder Flats; and Mary Gallaugher (Jim Walker) of Calgary; and Ethel Johanason of Tofield; as well as 37 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Henry was predeceased by his parents, Sarah and Archibald Fisher; one brother, Jack Sinclair; one sister, Agnes Jensen; his stepson, Elmer; and his daughter-in-law, Wendy Fisher.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Henry’s Life will be held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Rimbey on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. A Private Family Interment Service will take place in the Mount Auburn Cemetery, Rimbey. Cremation took place in Red Deer, Alberta.
