Andy Gillespie of Rimbey was born in Loverna Saskatchewan on October 14, 1928 and moved to the Rimbey area in 1935.

He worked in lumber camps, the oil patch, on seismic, and as a farm hand. He then worked at the Alpha Creamery (16 years), Co-Op Hardware (3 years), and then sold farm machinery and parts until he retired.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Norma, daughter Verna, parents Robert and Lucy Gillespie, brothers Chuck and Alex, sister Kay (Stromsmo) Reid, sisters-in-law Leah and Peggy, and brothers-in-law Wendal Stromsmo, Alex Reid and Tom Culling.

Andy is survived by his children, Peggy (Dave) Martin of Red Deer, Diane (John) Longmire of Gull Lake, Pat (Penny) Gillespie of Delacour, Hugh Dunham of Pincher Creek, 5 Grandchildren, and 9 Great Grandchildren. Also, brothers Bill and Dick (Sylvia), sisters Helen Culling and Mary (Doug) Makara, sister-in-law Doreen Gillespie, and many more family and friends.

The staff of Area 3, at the Long-term care facility in Rimbey, made it home for Andy for the last 8 years with their dedicated care and friendship.

Andy's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at the Rimbey United Church on Monday January 7, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Area 3 of the Rimbey Long Term Care Centre, 5228 50 Ave, Rimbey, AB T0C 2J0 or to the Canadian Cancer Society National Office 55 St Clair Avenue West, Suite 500 Toronto, Ontario M4V2Y7.
