Mrs. Iola Rose Hawksworth (nee Schwieger) of Rimbey, Alberta passed away following a short and courageous battle with cancer, at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at the age of 63 years. Iola was born on April 19, 1946 in Red Deer, Alberta. She was the third child of six children born to Rose and Fred Schwieger of the Iola District. Iola obtained her schooling in both Iola and Rimbey until Grade 8. At the age of 16 years, she was united in marriage to Norman Hawksworth. The two began their life together on a quarter section of land west of Rimbey. Iola had a great love for her family, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her hobbies included painting, photography and gardening. "She is resting in God's loving care." Iola will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her beloved husband of over 47 years, Norman; her two sons, Dee (Margo) Hawksworth of Rimbey; and Dwayne Hawksworth, also of Rimbey; and her daughter, Holly (Tad) Webber of Rocky Mountain House; in addition to seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her siblings, one brother, Bob (Clara) Schwieger of Bluffton; and three sisters, Betty Taylor of Rimbey; Dorothy Needham of Rimbey; and Lilly (Doug) Ecker of Quesnel, B.C.; as well as her special and dear friend, Holly Beagle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Iola was predeceased by her sister, Sandra and Sandra's children in 1967. A Public Funeral Service in Celebration of Iola's Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. Interment followed in the Iola Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton at 2:00 p.m. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Iola's Memory may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 4730A Ross Street, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 1X2; or to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre; c/o Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, 3942 - 50a Avenue, P.O.
