October 6, 1950 - July 26, 2018
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Irene Wegmann on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the age of 67 in her home. Born in Watson, Saskatchewan on October 6, 1950, Irene spent the early part of her life on the farm with her parents.

After graduating, she moved to Calgary to attend SAIT and her family followed her to Calgary in 1969. She met the love of her life, Herman, when she was 14, and they were married when she was 19. They started a metal fabrication business, and then Irene moved on to work both at Wasea Metal and Warwick Industries. They had one daughter, Tammy Lynn, who passed away in her sleep when she was 26.

Following their retirement, Irene and Herman moved full time to their home at Gull Lake, where they had enjoyed spending time with their many friends in the area. She volunteered at the RimbeyFood Bank, was active with Citizens on Patrol, donated quilts for the Red Deer SPCA and Women's Shelter, as well as making kits for Days for Girls. Irene loved spending time with her husband, and he became her "roadie" as she took up the accordion again. She went on to play with local bands and even became a memberOf One Accord Orchestra in Edmonton. She also began to compose music and recorded several songs. Irene and Herman also travelled extensively with their large group of friends, including a group of 42 of them that returned from Ireland just a few days before she passed.

Irene is survived by her husband (Herman) Wegmann of Rimbey; her sister Connie Louise McEgan (Karl Desjardins) of Calgary.

Irene was predeceased by her parents HenryKarl and Lilly Erma Hausmann (nee Wacker); her daughter Tammy Lynn Wegmann.

A Memorial Service was held at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre (5109 - 54 Street in Rimbey, Alberta) on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
