Ivan Leroy (Lee) May, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the hospital in Rimbey, Alberta.
Born in Cold Lake on January 26, 1934, to Gordon May and Eva May (Tschabold), Lee spent his young years growing up in Mantario Saskatchewan.
On August 7, 1954, he married Rose Marie Helfrich, a Flaxcombe Saskatchewan farm girl. They moved to Alberta in 1958, and started their own family farmstead west of Rimbey, Alberta where they raised their four sons.
A respected member of his local community, Lee dedicated his life to providing for family and sharing what he could. He always took time to stop what he was doing to visit with anyone who dropped by. Lee and his wife Rose were steadfast encouragers of hope and significance to family and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Rose. He is survived by four sons, Kenneth (Marie), Brian (Loreen), Robbie May,( Julie May) and Joe Boysis, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at Rimbey United Church in Rimbey, Alberta on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 1 PM. Burial will follow at West Haven Cemetery in Rimbey, Alberta.
Family, friends and others are invited to join at the funeral and/or lunch on between 1-4 PM, to honor Lee by celebrating his life and gathering to visit.
