James "Jim" Alfred

July 9, 1946 - Nov. 12, 2011


It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Ranger after a lengthy illness. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Susan, four children, Jane (Marc), Sheila (Rod), Laura (Farrel), and Robert; four grandchildren, Marrion, Lewis, Sadie and Amelia and his sister, Peggy. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Doreen. Jim was born in Bentley, Alberta and grew up there. After leaving the farm, work took him many places but his heart was always in Central Alberta. He had a passion for life and pursued many interests including farming, carpentry, operating equipment, and truck driving. In 1977, Jim met and married Susan in Red Deer where they started a family. Family was important to him and he was always involved with the children's sports and activities. Jim lived life to the fullest and he shared his enthusiasm with everyone in his life. A service was held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 48A Avenue, Red Deer on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 11227 Jasper Ave., Suite 202, Edmonton, AB T5K 0L5. Please note on donation "Directed Donation for Red Deer Area".
