LAWSON – James Richard “Jim”
Dec. 18th 1933 - June 9th, 2008
Mr. James Richard “Jim” Lawson of Rimbey, Alberta passed away in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Monday June 9, 2008 with his wife of fifty three years and family members at his bedside at the age of 74 years.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Georgie (nee Hovey) and Lowell Thompson Lawson. On July 15, 1955 Jim married Jean Donaldson, and together they had eight children. In 1980 Jim moved his family to Alberta, and eventually settled in Rimbey.
Jim was predeceased by his eight year old son Peter Charles on December 21, 1970. Through the years Jim suffered the loss of an infant granddaughter, his parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Jim leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife Jean, son’s; Rick (Corrine) of Red Deer, Tony (Jean) of Red Deer, Tim (Noreen) of Red Deer, Andy (Nita) of Picture Butte, Kevin (Cathy) of Rimbey, Susan Collins of Rimbey, Shelley (Greg) VanDevelde of Sylvan Lake, one sister; Carol (Sonny) McNulty of New Brunswick, a brother Paul (Emmerette) of New Brunswick, fifty eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was a terrific grandfather and he had a close bond with each of his grandchildren. This is quite an achievement considering there are thirty two grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren.
Jim will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all.
Funeral services will be held from the Rimbey Community Centre on Tuesday June 17, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Al Lewis and Reverend James Donaldson officiating. Cremation has taken place at Wilson’s Funeral Chapel & Crematorium in Lacombe, Alberta. Jim will be laid to rest beside his son Peter, in Hampton, New Brunswick at a later date.
