In loving memory ~
It is with saddened hearts the family of Jim Peterson announce his passing on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the age of 92 years. Jim will be remembered and missed by his children Evelyn Johnson (Kevin), Donald Peterson, and Sharon Schultz (Fred).
Jim was also fortunate in life to be loved by two families; and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Daphne Betlamini and her children Sheryl Fricke (David), Denise Henry (David) and Joe Betlamini (Heather).
He also leaves to mourn his passing in his blended family 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by his brother Grover in 1950 and his sister Minnie in 2017.
Jim was born at home on the family homestead near Delia, Alberta and attended the Handhills School. After World War II, at the age of 15 the family relocated to a farm near Buck Lake, Alberta. Jim married in 1952 and raised 3 children on the family farm and continued farming until the early 1980's.
Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and a hunter, and enjoyed camping (especially at a lake or river where he could go fishing). He always had an excellent garden and canned much of the produce. He was skillful at woodwork projects; and became an avid bowler in the Seniors League in Ponoka. He enjoyed watching hockey, first a fan of Toronto Maple Leafs and later the Edmonton Oilers.
His retirement years were spent with Daphne in Morinville and later in Ponoka. Due to declining health he moved to Edmonton in 2019 where he could get more assistance.
If you would like to make a donation in Jim's name, please do so to the "Alzheimer Society of Alberta".
Cremation has taken place and the family will gather for a celebration of life at a later date.
