Janet Evelyn New of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Edmonton on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the age of 85 years.
Janet will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Stan (Sharon) New of Prince George, B.C.; and her two daughters, Sally (Ray) Johnson of Blairmore, Alberta; and Evelyn (Kerry) Kincaid of Rimbey; as well as eight cherished grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by two sisters-in-law, Sophie Cochrane of Port Perry, Ontario; and Helen Peters of Stony Plain; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her first husband, Stanley Stefaniak in 1954; her second husband, Percy New in 2011; and eight siblings.
A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Janet's Life was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Rimbey on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place in Edmonton at a later date.
