TAYLOR

Joan Katherine Taylor passed away at Extendicare Michener Hill, Red Deer, on Oct. 25, 2010. Joan was born Oct. 21, 1935 and raised at Rimbey. She worked in an Insurance office in Edmonton for many years before taking an extensive world trip, stopping in Australia for about three years. In 1973 she returned to Canada, settling in Vancouver where she worked in the office of a jewelry store. In 1997 she moved to Red Deer. Joan will be remembered for her beautiful paintings, love of nature, especially butterflies and birds, and a good book. She leaves behind her stepmother Violet Taylor of Sylvan Lake, half- sister Pat (Ken) Frayn of Bowden, half-brother Donald (Bernice) Taylor of Camrose, two nieces and five nephews. Joan was predeceased by her mother Edith E. Taylor (nee Norstrom, formally Moore) in 1938, her father Harry N. Taylor in 1967, brother Neil Taylor and half-sister Agnes Moore Saunders. A special thank you to the staff at Extendicare Michener Hill, and former staff of the Red Deer Nursing home for the care given to Joan while in these facilities. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Red Deer and District Branch, 6, 5015 - 48 St. Red Deer, T4N-1S9. Respecting the wishes of Joan, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
