Mr. Joe Carothers of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the age of 100 years.


Joe came to the Bluffton area from De Winton, Alberta in 1960, and settled on a farm with his brother, Jim and family. He retired in 1992, and resided at the Parkland Manor in Rimbey. Joe celebrated his 100th birthday along with family and friends at the Bluffton Community Hall in 2010.


Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his daughter, Margaret (Alan) Williams of Vancouver, B.C.; and his grandson, Robert Williams (Chelsey Perrella) also of Vancouver, B.C. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brother, Jim (Lee) Carothers of Gadsby, Alberta; three sisters, Virginia Watrin of High River; Barbara Knight of Red Deer; and Anna Harder of Calgary; his sister-in-law, Margaret Lyster of Rimbey; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of good friends. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Helen; his wife, Doris; one brother, Keith; one sister, Chrissy Smith; and four brothers-in-law, Lawrence Watrin, Doug Knight, Dick Harder, and Allan Smith.


A Service of Remembrance in Joe's Honour was held at the Parkland Manor, Rimbey on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Dave Mulligan officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later date in the Pine Creek Cemetery, De Winton, Alberta. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Joe's Memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice.
