DENIS
John Joseph Charles Denis of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Area Three, Rimbey on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the age of 88 years.
John was born to Henri and Ozelie Denis on October 21, 1925 in Cornwall, Ontario. He was raised with five siblings, all of whom have predeceased him. John joined the RCAF until December of 1945, at which time he was honourably discharged with a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He then moved to British Columbia where he mined for a time, relocating to Manitoba where he worked at the Rehabilitation Centre for Children until his retirement. John met and was united in marriage to Martha in 1990, inheriting eleven stepchildren. They enjoyed a blissful twenty-four years of marriage. John and Martha moved to Ontario from Winnipeg, where they resided for eight years before settling in Alberta to be closer to family. John will be lovingly missed.
John leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Martha; and his stepchildren: Anne and Ken, Elaine and Larry, Ross, Roy and Loanna, Edward, Laura and Allan, Alfred, Jean, Bob and Theresa, and Ken; in addition to many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. He also has three nephews in Ontario who will miss him terribly: Gregory Caron, Gaston Caron, and William Moran. John was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, and one stepson, Richard in 2013.
A Public Memorial Service in Honour of John's Life was held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Rimbey on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Mark Schultz officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later date in Vancouver, British Columbia.
