John Richard (Rick) LEE
March 7, 1963 - February 29, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of John Richard (Rick) Lee. He lost his long battle with cancer on February 29, 2016 at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre surrounded by family just short of his 53rd birthday.
Rick was the youngest son, born in Calgary, to Marjorie (Gran)and George (Gramps) Lee and was raised on their property in Midnapore. Rick worked across Alberta doing many jobs and ended up in the Rimbey area. He married Karen (nee Gustafson) in 1992 and they built a home in the Town of Rimbey. There they raised six children (Amy Reid, Angela , Greg, Emily, John and Lora).
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Karen and his beloved children; Amy, Angela (Eric), Greg, Emily (Nick), John and Lora; precious grandchildren; Allison, Brooke, and new baby (April 2016). He will be fondly remembered by his three brothers; Ted(Debbie), Tom(Joanne), and Mike; five sisters; Trish(Bob), Margie(Roger), Jeannette(Mike), Lolly and Beth(Daryl); mother-in-law; Frances Gustafson; three sisters-in-law; Cheryl, Debbie(Ted), Liz; five brothers-in-law; Russell, Terry, Murray, Don, and Eric (Lara), as well as, many beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents George Edward Lee (2004) and Marjorie Mae Lee (nee Fachini) in 2000, his brother-in-law Craig Bernick in 1999 and his nephew David Stewart in 2003.
We will lovingly remember Rick for his sense of humour and hard work ethic. He was gifted in doing carpentry and drywalling. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. Rick enjoyed hunting, camping, horseback riding , the outdoors and spending quality time with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 1 pm at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre in Rimbey, Alberta with Pastor Reg Darnell officiating.
