Josefina "Joy" Bruca of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Monday, August 2, 2021 at the age of 62 years.
Joy was born in Baao, Camarines Sur in the Philippines on November 2, 1958 to her parents, Josefina Bruca and Ernesto Dy. She was raised by her grandmother, Soledad, along with her aunt Evelyn and uncle Paquito.
Joy worked as a nanny in Hong Kong for ten years. She then immigrated to Canada in 1993, and worked as a caregiver and eventually a health care aide at the Rimbey Long Term Care Centre.
Joy treasured any time spent working with seniors, and took great pride in working passionately to attain the best quality of life for them during their last years. She loved working in her garden, and enjoyed canning her garden fruits and vegetables each season.
Joy enjoyed volunteering, joining the horticultural show, and liked to venture out shopping on occasion. She also took pleasure in traveling to different places; but most of all, she loved helping her family members in Canada and abroad. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joy will be lovingly remembered by her six siblings: Berto, Monina, Neneth, Junny, Endong, and Rey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Josefina and Ernesto; her beloved grandmother, Soledad; and one brother, Salvador.
Joy's family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre for all their special attention and compassionate care while Joy was there.
A Public Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 3 pm with the Reverend Father Shimit Abraham, Celebrant.
