Joseph Gordon

May 11, 1943 - June 9, 2013

Joe Hinde, beloved husband of Carollyne Hinde of Chestermere, Alberta, passed away on June 9, 2013 at the Agape Hospice after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer. Joe was born at Trochu, AB to Joe and Rosalind Hinde. He grew up on the family farm at Elnora, attending school there until high school. He then went to Red Deer for his senior high years. After graduation he worked for Shell Oil then joined AGT. He received his Electrical Certification from SAIT in 1985. Farming was always Joe's passion, and, in 1974 he took over the Hehr farm east of Crossfield where he still has his farm. As well as being a farmer, Joe was also a Grain Buyer. He bought grain for many years in the Crossfield, Cochrane, Olds, Carstairs, Hanna, Drumheller, Water Valley and Hight River regions. He started his career with Elders Grain out of Australia in 1974 to establish a pea grain industry in the Calgary region. He worked for Can Amera/Bunge for eighteen years before retiring. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Rosalind Hinde, and first wife, Donna (Hehr). Joe is survived by his loving wife Carollyne, stepson Marty Sulek (Ali Syme) and grandkids Alexander, Julian and Tia Sulek, all of Winchestor, Indiana, USA, who will dearly miss their "Papa Joe", stepdaughter Shawna Sulek (Steve Sim) of Lunenburg, N.S.; sister, Joyce Tona of Rimbey; and nieces, Donna (Lyndon) O'Reilly of Leduc, Diane Tona of Red Deer, and Cindy (Ray) Hamel of Peace River. Joe was predeceased by his brother-in-law Edward James Tona. Prayer Service was held at the Mountain View Funeral Home, Calgary, on Wednesday June 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm. Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Calgary. Placement of cremated remains took place in the Columbarium at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary, Alberta
