DONNELLY
Mr. Joseph "Joe" R. Donnelly of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Area Three, Rimbey on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the age of 90 years.
Joe was born in Nugent, Alberta on August 4, 1919. He met and was later united in marriage in England to Margaret Keeney on March 27, 1943. Joe served overseas during WWII from 1941 until 1945. Upon returning home, he farmed in the Bluffton area from 1948 until 1974, at which time he sold the family farm to his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Ken. Joe then worked at the Rimbey Co-op from 1976 until 1985. Joe and Margaret later retired and moved into Rimbey in 1994.
Joe will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Margaret; his two sons, Ken (Kim) Donnelly of Edmonton; and Francis (Avril) Donnelly of Prince George, B.C.; and his four daughters, Linda Doran of Rimbey; Kathleen (Ken) Jaffray of Bluffton; Brenda (Reg) Lukasik of St. Albert; and Bernie (Wilf) Schrage of Calgary; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his brother, Gilbert (Audrey) Donnelly of Camrose; his two sisters, Marie Olson of Rimbey; and Leona (Jim) Masson of Sherwood Park; his sister-in-law, Marion Donnelly of Rimbey; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by three brothers, Francis, Nelson and Dave; and one sister, Fidelas Rainey.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Gabriel Udeh, Celebrant. Interment followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Bluffton.
