Apr. 6, 1958 - Apr. 22, 2017

It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend; Karen Rowe (McConnell). Karen was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 6, 1958 along with her twin sister Kathy. She lived in Drayton Valley until she was six then moved to Calgary where she grew up with her five siblings. Karen married Al McConnell in 1986 and was blessed with three beautiful boys; Jarrett, Landon and Levi. These boys were Karen's everything and she loved them dearly. Al predeceased Karen on July 9, 2000. Karen was enrolled in the Educational Assistant program at Red Deer College and spent many hours tutoring students and supporting youth within the Rimbey community. All three of her boys were involved in minor hockey and Karen was a very proud hockey mom who spent many a weekend and evening in the arenas of central Alberta. Karen found true love once again with her husband Greg Rowe. Their love and devotion for each other was enjoyed by all who knew them. Karen found the renewed blessing of children in her two grandsons Tyson Yost and Easton McConnell. Her heart was full whenever she could bake cookies, play games or snuggle on the couch with these two young men. Karen's zest for life and amazing sense of humor will be sadly missed by those who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Greg Rowe, her three sons, Jarrett McConnell (Mya Schatz), Landon McConnell (Kassandra Likeness) and Levi McConnell (Alyce Davidson); her two grandsons Tyson Yost and Easton McConnell; her parents Helen Shevalier (Harvey) and Roy Thompson; her siblings Murray Thompson (Peggy), Kathy Murch, Steve Thompson (Donna), Sharon Boutin (Rick) and Marina Cooke (Dirk Meyer) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of Karen's life was held on April 29, 2017, 1:00 at the Peter Lougheed Community Center in Rimbey, Alberta. Cremation entrusted to Wilson's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Rimbey, Alberta
