Kathryn Anne Krause
Mrs. Kathryn Anne Krause passed away at the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre on January 29, 2011. The beloved wife and partner of Lorne Krause of Ponoka. She will be deeply missed by her specially chosen family: Robin (Jim) Hominiuk of Washington, Heather (Brad) Kopp, Erin Bader and Lori McKernan all of Edmonton & Danielle Harder of Ft. St. John, BC; Lorne's family - siblings David (Susan) of New York, Laura (Bill) Turnbull of Onoway, AB, Clyde (Doris) Krause of Calgary, AB, Stan (Robin) Krause of Jenner, AB and Gary (Nancy) Krause of Creston, BC; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy is also survived by her Mark and Thomson cousins; uncle Alfred Mark of Bruderheim, AB; step-mother Lillian Thomson of Summerland, BC; as well as her many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Daisy (Mark) Thomson.
Kathy was born on October 3, 1944 in Victoria, BC and soon moved to Edmonton where she went to school and spent many happy hours at her Grandfather and Uncle Alf's farm.
Kathy and Lorne met when she worked at the U of A Students Union and were married in Edmonton on September 21, 1968. After marriage, they lived at Buffalo, Sherwood Park, Brooks, Hilda and Homeglen.
Kathy's passions were Lorne and family. She loved food preparation and presentation, painting and collecting art, her Church, gardening, animals - especially horses, teaching young people, old movies, classical music, traveling, and community service. Kathy had a gift for entertaining and making everyone welcome. She was loved and respected by all of her friends and family. Kathy will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service was held for Kathy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Ponoka First Baptist Church.
Interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations are gratefully accepted to the Ankizy Fund (www.ankizy.org), the Cross Cancer Institute or any charity of your choice.
