On Thursday March 17, 2016 Mrs. LaVerne Dorothy Norstrom of Edmonton formerly of Rimbey passed away suddenly at the age of 72.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Harvey Norstrom, three sons Arvid, Noel and Patty, Jason.
She also will be remembered by two grandchildren and one great-grandchildren; Brittani and Chris, and precious great-granddaughter, Trystan, Steffani and James; her brother and two sisters; Fred and Susan, Doris and LaVern, Joan and Rod, and her very special and cherished nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Shorty and Laurene Fawcett, brother Glendon Fawcett and her son Neal.
LaVerne was born the oldest daughter of Laurene and Shorty Fawcett, a farm family that instilled in her the love of family and the countryside that endured her entire life.
She married Harvey Norstrom on February 2, 1962 and later as a young wife and mother she moved to the city but continued to return to the family farm every chance she had. In her younger years LaVerne worked in various retail establishments until the birth of her precious twin grand-daughters.
She never hesitated to brag about and tell stories as she watched her “girlies grow”. March 18, 2014 a new twinkle was brought to LaVerne’s eye with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Trystan. Her smiles, giggles and smooches never failed to bring happiness to Gramma Vern.
Her garden and flowers brought her many hours of enjoyment in the summer. In winter she enjoyed, knitting, crocheting, and watching curling.
You could tell how curling was going by how many mistakes she made. LaVerne spent many hours volunteering at S.E.E.S.A, all while she was able, then spent time doing various activities there and with her Monday lunch and “crafty ladies”
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South East Edmonton Seniors Association (S.E.E.S.A.) Raise the Roof Campaign or Alberta Diabetes Association.
