Passed away while in residential care at the Lodge at Broadmead, Victoria, B.C.

Up until the end he was still upbeat and congenial in spite of any infirmities.

In 1923 at home birth of twins was difficult, his brother Paul was still born.

Raised on the family farm in Lockhart, Alberta SW of Rimbey, Alberta. Youngest of six. Schooled at home and in a one room school by his dad. Boarding school in Calgary and Lacombe for his high school years.

He left high school at 18 to serve in the RCAF. Training on the BC coast and in Ontario, he got his trade as an aircraft armourer. He was posted finally to a photo reconnaissance unit, serving along side the British army in he Normandy invasion thru to VE day.

He was back in Sooke, BC by his 23rd birthday. A satisfying job was hard to find and he re-enlisted in the RCAF for two years. Once out of the service, he used his veterans benefits to pay for training as a radio operator.

While in training he met his wife to be, Reva. After a few years of remote postings he decided to marry Reva and settle in Vancouver.

Working in Vancouver for Marshell Wells and Canada Safeway as a warehouseman and a member of the Retail Wholesale Union.

He raised two children, had diverse hobbies in woodworking, rock collecting, gardening & reading.

He was predeceased by his parents Duncan and Annie, his daughter Tammy, his wife, Reva, brother in-laws Ron and Raleigh Heid, Humfrey Blake, brothers Paul, James, Robert and Laurie, sister Jessie Bodden, nephews Allan Layton and Jim Blake.

He leaves to mourn his passing his son Mark (Jo Anne), sister Mary Blake, sister in law Clara Layton, brother in law Hal Bodden, stepson Barry Pearson (Marg). Grandchildren Geneva Dilkus, Reva May Pearson, Dorraine (Ross Watson). Great grandchildren Jennifer Pearson (Matt Stelter), Matthew Cotton, Barry, Ryan and Bruce Watson. Great-great Grandchild Chase Pearson Stelter, Nieces Sandra, Linda, Donna, Heather & Chris. Nephews Robert, Harvey, Tim, Tom, Keith Layton & Mike, Ken, Sandy, Ian Bodden, & John, Tony Blake.

His body will be cremated and the ashes buried in the Mount Auburn Cemetery in Rimbey, Alberta. He was remembered in a service by his fellow lodge mates and care givers at The Lodge at Broadmead. A graveside memorial will also be held in Rimbey on June 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Arthritis Society, for Lupus research, (in memory of his daughter Tammy) or any other charity of choice.
