July 2, 1929 - October 29, 2018
On October 29th, Len Bauer left us to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was born July 2, 1929 in the back of a horse drawn wagon outside of Craigmyle, Alberta. He was the seventh of nine children born to Emanuel and Maria (Mohl) Bauer.

In 1935, the Bauer family moved to the Meadow Vale district located west of Rimbey and at the age of sixteen Len left school to work on nearby sawmills. In 1949, he moved to Red Deer to pursue a career in carpentry where he achieved his journeyman ticket. Following that, he started Len's Excavating Ltd. with a Caterpillar 30 dozer and Link Belt Speeder track hoe in 1953. During that time Darlene, Jerry and Sylvia were born. Ten years later, he and his young family moved back to Rimbey in 1963 on farmland he had purchased in 1945 beside his brothers Albert and Herb which became known as Bauer hill. Soon after returning to Rimbey, Marilyn was born to complete his family. Len farmed, sawed lumber and for several years helped his son with lowland water control ditching. All of which he enjoyed whole heartedly. In his leisure time, he was an avid hunter and loved hunting with his hunting buddies. He was also an enthusiastic customer of Allen Olson's sales and had a lot of equipment as a result.

Furthermore, Len was a man of strong faith having the Bible mostly memorized along with many inspirational poems which he would readily recite to you. Len was a man of honesty, strong work ethic and would help anyone in need without hesitation. If you needed something he had; it was yours. The kettle was always on, a cookie ready to be shared and all was accompanied with a welcoming big smile.

Len is survived by his remaining siblings Gilbert Bauer and Norma Stern, his children Darlene, Jerry (Connie), Sylvia and Marilyn (Darrell), his cherished grandchildren Carly, Austin (Candice), Brayden and Trevor, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held from the Peter Lougheed Community Centre in Rimbey, Alberta on Tuesday November 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Garrett Gillespie officiating. Interment took place in the Bradshaw Cemetery in Leedale, Alberta.
