DENNIS

Mr. Leslie "Lee" Albert Dennis of Bluffton, Alberta passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the age of 75 years.

Lee was born in Camrose on January 1, 1934 and lived at Duhamel where his parents, Tom and Laura (Budd) Dennis farmed. In April, 1947, they moved to a farm in the Edgerton area, east of Wainwright. Lee attended McCafferty School until 1950, then farmed with his father, later with his brother, Laurie, and then finally on his own. Lee married Del Guthrie Scott in January, 1961, and became a stepfather to Del's daughters, Terry, Lee, Pat and Julie. In the following years, Roger and Tracy were born. Lee purchased land in the Springdale District in 1966, and in 1968, he moved there with Roger and Tracy. Lee farmed and worked at the Edgerton Seed Cleaning Plant and then managed the Clive Seed Cleaning Plant at this time. On June 30, 1973, Lee was united in marriage to Judy Smithson. Two sons were born to this union, Ken and Wes. Through the years, Lee continued to farm and work out. He was at the C & G Ranch, the Fallen Timber, and later he worked for Pat and Gwen Boyce. Lee enjoyed every aspect of farming, from seeding to harvest, haying and the animals, and especially the horses. Lee raised Quarter horses and then Percherons. He cart raced, team pulled, and spent many hours in the saddle checking cattle, cut grain with the horse binder, and hauled the bundles to the thresher with team and wagon. Family and friends will remember the sleigh rides at Christmas with fond memories.

Lee will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Judy; his daughter, Tracy Christensen (Murray) of Bonnyville, Alberta; his sons, Roger Dennis (Liz) of Rimbey; Ken (Kim) Dennis of Bluffton; and Wes Dennis also of Bluffton; in addition to his seven grandchildren, Karla Christensen (Matthew) of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Kaysi Christensen (Russell) of Stettler; Jalane Dennis (Scott) of Edson; Wendell Dennis of Rimbey; Shayna Dennis (Robbie) of Barrhead; and Tom and Raette Dennis, both of Bluffton; and his great grandchildren, Keira and Justis. He will also be lovingly remembered by his stepdaughters, Terry Scott (Gary) of Provost; Lee (Steven) Cech of Beaumont; Pat (Francis) Cech of Sherwood Park; Julie (Darrell) Knister of Calgary and their families; as well as his brothers, Laurie (Sandy) Dennis; Ed (Bea) Dennis; his brother-in-law, Jim Busch, all of Wainwright and their families; his father-in-law, Ken (Pheobe) Smithson of Rimbey; his mother-in-law, Rosie Smithson (Delbert) of Vernon, B.C.; his sisters-in-law, June (Robert) Ogilvie of Fort Nelson, B.C.; and Peggy (Paul) Taylor of Bluffton and their families. Lee was predeceased by his father, Tom in 1962; his mother, Laura in 1984; his brother, Bill in 1987; and his sister, Doreen Busch in 1999.
