HOLMES
Mrs. Lois Ellen Holmes of Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the Foothills Hospital, Calgary on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the age of 51 years.
Lois was born the fifth child of Chester and Isabella Bartholow on December 4, 1958 in Olds, Alberta. She lived her younger years in the Sundre area, where she later met the love of her life, Keven Holmes. Lois and Keven were united in marriage in Sundre on November 15, 1975, and it was here that their first two children, Chad and Angela were born. The family moved to Rimbey in September, 1979, where they were welcomed into the community, and where Curtis, their youngest son was born. Lois was a stay-at-home mom until she joined the family of "Whispering Hope," where she worked with mentally and physically disabled children. She found comfort in helping these children, and when Whispering Hope became a part of the Bluffton School, Lois continued to work there for three years. In 1992, Lois joined the Eckrim Agencies team where she thoroughly enjoyed going into work everyday, seeing people, and working with the community. She made many dear friends in the 18 years that she worked there. Lois' greatest joys were her children and grandkids, large family gatherings, and Sunday drives with her best friend, Keven.

Lois will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 35 years, Keven; her two sons, Chad (Tammy) Holmes of Rimbey; and Curtis (Kaylin) Holmes of Edmonton; and her daughter, Angela (Steve) Luchak of Rimbey; as well as three cherished grandchildren, Emma, Megan, and Breanna. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her mother, Isabella Bartholow of Sundre; three brothers, Jim (Nita) Bartholow of Sundre; Norman (Lorraine) Bartholow of Barrhead; and Dennis (Debbie) Bartholow of Sundre; and two sisters, Marlene (Stan) Ross of Sundre; and Joyce Tippie, also of Sundre; and her dear friend, Heather DeBoer of Olds; in addition to many nieces and nephews. Lois was predeceased by her father, Chester Bartholow.
A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Lois' Life was held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Rimbey on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend David Holmes officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
