STRAIN
In Loving Memory of Loretta Rebecca Strain of Bluffton, Alberta who passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the age of 80 years.
Loretta was born on February 5, 1934 in Bonnyville, Alberta. She attended school there until she was 15 years old, at which time she went with a cousin to a convent in Orange County, California. As the convent life didn't suit her, Loretta returned home and continued her education at Marvel Hairdressing School in Edmonton. Eventually she settled in Rimbey where she owned and operated her own business for a number of years. During that time, Loretta met and was later united in marriage to Lloyd Strain, and together they raised three children. In 1972, she sold her business and the family moved to a farm near Hoadley where she resided until her passing. Loretta loved gardening, flowers, reading, a challenging crossword puzzle, and she was an amazing cook. But her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and the smile on her face spoke volumes whenever they came to visit. Loretta will be missed greatly by us all.
Loretta is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Lloyd; and her loving children: Darrell (Karen) Strain of Gull Lake; Shauna (Rob) McNicol of Medicine Hat; and Shane (Trudy) Strain of Sylvan Lake; as well as five treasured grandchildren: Tracy (Pete), Tyler (Noelle), Shaye, Abigail and Chloe. She is also survived by her two sisters, Margaret Kolodka, and Lucienne (Charles) Babin both of Bonnyville; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Geanette Belanger; and two brothers, Edward and Raymond.
With respect for Loretta's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later date in the Hoadley Cemetery, Hoadley.
