He was born on November 7th, 1932, Rimbey AB, the son of the late Walter and Essie Peabody.  He was the oldest of five siblings. On November 6th, 1954 he married Betty Joyce Evenson. Lorne was raised in Rimbey and started his work career at the age of 17 for the CN railway.  It was a job he remembered with fondness and he often reminisced about the great men he had the honor of working with.  He went to S.A.I.T and got his electrical ticket.  He met and married Betty and made the move to Sylvan lake where he joined Calgary Power and raised his family. Lorne never had just one job, he kept busy on the side with odd jobs, building, tree removal, and repairs. He also volunteered on the Sylvan Lake fire department, and was active in Minor Hockey, he was a councilor for the town of Sylvan Lake. In 1977 he left Calgary Power and made the move back to Rimbey where he bought the Rimbey Golf Course and he started Peabody Construction. For the next 30 years, he worked in the central Alberta area. In 2008 his son Grant Peabody took over the company and Lorne retired although he didn't stop working, he was always busy, with his tree farm, welding a new toy hauler, or a fishing shack, and many other projects.

Lorne was an avid outdoorsman he loved fishing, hunting, and his boat when he wasn't working, he was playing, and he enjoyed his life to its fullest.  He could always be counted on if you needed help, and he lived his life with many friends and was a friend to many.
