MILLAR
Maureen Millar of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the age of 75 years.
Maureen was born in Provost, Alberta on September 20, 1935. After leaving the homestead, she resided in several locations before finally settling in Rimbey. Maureen worked at Rachar Farm Equipment and at Algar Insurance Agencies, and came to make many cherished friends. She was a member of the Rimbey C.W.L., was the church secretary for many years, and was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion in Rimbey. Maureen also helped organize the vibrant 'disorganization' called the "Red Hatters", and thoroughly enjoyed the community and her many friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Maureen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son, Tim Millar (Elaine Harrison) of Vernon, B.C.; and her two daughters, Crystal (Dale) Rudy of Abbotsford, B.C.; and Heather Millar of Rimbey; as well as four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by two brothers, Donal Hansman of Toronto, Ontario; and Larry (Rosaleen) Hansman of Vancouver, B.C.; and one sister, Renee Christensen of Edmonton; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Jim in 1985.
Relatives and Friends were invited to a Prayer Vigil which was held at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Rimbey on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Father Gabriel Udeh and the Reverend Father Peter Sharpe, Concelebrants. Interment followed on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Provost Cemetery, Provost, Alberta. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Maureen's Memory may be made directly to the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Long Term Care, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0.
