Max Eugene Moore

August 12, 2005

Max Eugene Moore, formerly of Bentley,

passed away on August 12, 2005 at the

age of ninety-two. He was born in

Moulton, Iowa on September 29, 1912.

His family emigrated to Canada, arriving

at Gull Lake in 1913.

Max was educated in Alberta, but went back to the U.S. to

work as a telegrapher for two years. He returned to Alberta

and married Agnes Cabelka on June 20, 1939. They farmed

in the Gull Lake area for thirty years.

During this time, Max became a journeyman partsman,

then worked in Red Deer at his new trade. Fifteen years of

their retirement was spent at their new home on Shuswap

Lake before they moved back to Bentley. Max has made

many new friends in the last three years while living in

Lacombe and Sylvan Lake.

Max’s social nature and exceptionally positive attitude

made him an inspiration to his children and grandchildren.

He never declined an invitation from family or

friends, especially if it involved a card game.

He loved to play the harmonica, yodel, strum and sing for

family jam sessions. During his later years he enjoyed

emailing friends and was very proud that he could bank

online.

Max was predeceased by his beloved wife Agnes, in 2001,

his parents Esco and Grace and his sisters Verona and

Mildred. Left to cherish his memory are his children Larry

Moore, Carol (Jim) Tronnes, Harvey (Carol) Moore,

Connie (Gerrit) Van Heeren and Phil (Jane) Moore; his

grandchildren Dean (Anja), Eugene, Dan (Lana), Dawn

(Doug), Chris (Betty), Ray, Steven, Tim, Michael, Kelly

(Wade), Kim, Ross and Jill; and his great grandchildren

Chyanne, Olivia, Taylor, Carter, Ashley, Scott, David,

Jennifer, Amy and Amelia.

He will also be sadly missed by his sisters Dorothy Smith,

Pauline Pollock, Donna Jacque and Nedra (Gerald) Pollock

and Agnes’ siblings Louis Cabelka and Helen Beranek.

A celebration of Max’s life will be held on Thursday, August

18 at 11:00 am at the Bentley Ag Centre with Reverend

Ray Goodship officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations

may be made in Max’s memory to the Bentley United

Church. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to
