Michael Wayne Harrish


Michael has lost his battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He died at St. Albert's Sturgeon Community Hospital on January 24, 2012.

Born on August 29,1959 in Rimbey to Joe and Helen Harish, Michael grew up on the family farm near Bluffton and attended Bluffton Elementary School. He graduated from Rimbey High School in 1977, and went on to study at University of Lethbridge, graduating with a degree in commerce.

Michael's career spanned 25 years in the Alberta government, first as a ranger for Alberta Parks at several central Alberta parks. Then he moved into Alberta Treasury, where he conducted tax assessments and investigations. Michael later moved into Alberta Transportation, serving for over 15 years in the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division across the province. Most recently he led the team at the Leduc weigh scales as Sergeant of the unit.

Michael led many family outdoor events such as vacationing, hiking, camping and four-wheeling in the mountains and by the lake. And he enjoyed his passion for motorcycles over many years.

Michael married Rose Mohr in 1985 and they soon settled in St. Albert where they lived until his passing. They have two daughters, Melissa and Paula - both at home. He also leaves behind his mother, Helen and brother, Dennis (Anne). Predeceased by father, Joseph and sister, Kathy. A funeral service was held January 28, 2012 in Edmonton.
