YOUNG
Mr. Alfred Ernest Young of
Rimbey, Alberta passed away at the
Rocky Mountain House Hospital
and Care Centre, Rocky Mountain
House, Alberta on Thursday, July
21, 2005 at the age of 93 years.
Alfred was born on December 23, 1911 at Swalwell,
Alberta. He was the second eldest of nine children born
to Ernest and Florence Young. Alfred came to the
Rimbey area in the mid-1930’s from Swalwell. He met
and was later united in marriage to Eunice Brown of
Forshee; and to this union, three children were born.
Alfred was a farmer, but was better known as “The Horse
Trader — Alfred Young”. He possessed a great love for
horses and rodeo’s. Another passion he loved to do was
haying. Alfred was an ardent rodeo enthusiast, and he
waited every year for the chuckwagons and horses to
park on his acreage. He looked forward to the Rimbey
Rodeo, and was a lifetime member of the Rimbey Rodeo
Board.
Alfred will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife,
Eunice; two sons, Duane (Bev) Young of Marwayne,
Alberta; and Roy (Janet) Young of Breton; and one
daughter, June (Jim) Gracie of Ottawa, Ontario; as well
as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He will also be lovingly remembered by two brothers,
Stan Young of Three Hills; and Jack (Marge) Young of
Red Deer. Alfred was predeceased by his brothers,
Horace (Roy), and Jim; and by his sisters, Annie, May,
Daisy, and Florence.
Memorial Services in Celebration of Alfred’s Life were
held in the Lower Hall of the Rimbey United Church,
Rimbey on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr.
Wayne Young, Master of Ceremonies. Cremation took
place in Red Deer, Alberta. If friends desire, memorial
tributes in Alfred’s Memory may be made directly to
the charity of one’s choice. Condolences to the family
