WHITE

On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, we unexpectedly lost a most treasured member of our family, Neil Edward White of Winfield, Alberta, who suddenly passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident at the age of 61 years.

Neil was born in Vancouver, B.C. and became a son of Alberta when his father, Clifford took a job in the city of Calgary. Neil graduated from Olds College with hopes of being the first part of a new wave of pioneers who cherished the land and harvested from good earth. He met Barbara (nee Palm) of Rimbey, to whom he was married in 1975, and together they purchased land east of Winfield in 1977. In 1985, Neil felt a strong call to enter full-time pastoral ministry and he obtained his Diploma of Christian Studies from Regent College in Vancouver, and subsequently served as the Pastor of Battle Lake Community Baptist Church from 1987 to 1998. After completing his first of two Masters Degrees, and a visit to L'brie, Switzerland in the spring of 1999, Neil was inspired to build Hidden Springs Guest House and Retreat on the farm in Winfield to offer a place of respite for weary souls. Truly a bearer of burdens, his second Masters Degree was in Arts, specializing in Family Counselling, and Neil spearheaded Burden Bearers' office in Drayton Valley. Until the very moment of his passing, he continued to find ways to make the world a better, brighter place for those in need. Neil has now found rest after a rich and full life lived in service of God and his fellow man.

Neil will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife, Barb; two sons, Skylar (Karen) of Lacombe; and Jordan (Caitlin) of Red Deer; and two daughters, Ailen White; and Kelsey White, both of Calgary; in addition to his cherished grandchildren: Theo, Zaeli, Kaiah, Thomas, and Keenan. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two brothers, Brian (Maureen) of Calgary; and Ross (Jeannie) of Victoria, B.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other close family, and a host of treasured friends. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Fran; and his sister, Lynn Turnbull.

A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Neil's Life was held at the Rimbey Community Centre, Rimbey on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Gooderham and Pastor James Bekkers officiating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will take place at a later date in the Knob Hill Cemetery, Winfield. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Neil's Memory may be made directly to Burden Bearers Counselling Centre, Box 5325, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1R5.
