NEUFELD
Dorothy Lauretta Neufeld (nee Nichol) of Rimbey, Alberta went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2019. She passed away at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Area Three at the age of 96 years.
Dorothy, along with her two younger brothers, was raised by loving parents on the family homestead near Lac Vert, Saskatchewan. She began her teaching career at the age of 18, and was a much-loved teacher and guide for hundreds of students over her career. Dorothy accepted the Lord as her Saviour in her teenage years; her faith was very important to her and she was a strong and faithful Christian. Dorothy attended and graduated from the Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. Dorothy married her sweetheart, David in 1951. Together they raised three children and lived in many different places in Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and Alberta. They shared many adventures together as a family, from farming to business ventures. After retirement they enjoyed travel, RVing, and spending time with family and friends. Dorothy was a kind, caring and gentle lady, and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children: Gloria Harris of Whitehorse, Yukon; Rena-Mae Neufeld of Rimbey; and Bernie Neufeld of Eckville; in addition to her grandchildren: Lauretta Lee Of Whitehorse, Yukon; and Nathan Neufeld of Red Deer; and one great granddaughter, Anika. She will also be lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Ben Neufeld of Abbotsford, B.C.; her sisters-in-law, Vivian Nichol of Abbotsford, B.C.; and Tina Neufeld of Nipawin, Saskatchewan; as well as numerous and much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband, David in 2016; her parents, Earl and Gladys Nichol; her son-in-law, Richard Harris; and her brothers, Everett and Wesley Nichol.
The family will hold a Memorial Service for Dorothy at a later date. In keeping with her request, Dorothy's final resting place will be with her parents in Mission, B.C.
