Mr. P. Walter Buckingham of Bluffton, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Rimbey on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the age of 92 years.
Walter was born and raised on the family homestead at Nugent, Alberta. He spent his entire life living and farming the original homestead together with his wife, Hazel, except for serving four years in Suffield during WWII in the early 1940’s. Walter was very proud of his family heritage and his passion was for his family, friends and neighbours, farmland and tending to his cattle. He will be greatly missed, always admired, deeply respected, and forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Walter will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 51 years, Hazel; his two daughters, Brenda (Romeo) Denomme of Bluffton; and Pauline (John) Foss also of Bluffton; his stepson, Bob (Marlaine) Fujczak of Red Deer; and his stepdaughter, Vivian (Al) Brissette of Calgary. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and many close friends. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Lily Buckingham; and two brothers, Bob and Bill.
A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Walter’s Life was held at the Hoadley Evangelical Missionary Church, Hoadley on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Steve Budd officiating. Interment followed in the Hoadley Cemetery, Hoadley. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
