Reginald Henry Colberg

March 18, 2019

February 4, 1950 - March 18, 2019
My loving husband, our dad and grandpa, Reginald Henry Colberg was born on February 4,1950 to Nicolajs and Irina (Skulte) Colberg at Carlton County, Ottawa, Ontario. He left us unexpectedly in a tragic accident on the afternoon of March 18, 2019, doing what he loved best, running hoe.

Reg grew up in Ottawa with his four siblings. It was always his dream to run a motorcycle repair shop. This did not work out for him. He traveled across Canada to visit his brother in Vancouver, where he met God at a Christian concert. He then worked in various places in B.C. and Alberta and came in contact with the Church of God in Christ Mennonite at Crooked Creek, AB. In 1973 he started attending church and was baptized on February 2,1975, by Minister Adin Klassen. He remained faithful to vows until the end.

Reg married me, Lois Jean Wohlgemuth on December 5,1975. We had 43 unforgettable years together, where any day could be a new adventure. Three daughters and one son were born to us.

We lived in Crooked Creek for the first fifteen years. This is where Reg started his trenching business. He started working for the phone company and this took us around central Alberta, living in many different campgrounds. We children remember these as enjoyable years. In December of 1990, on the coldest day of the year, we moved to Rimbey, AB and made this our permanent home.

Dad suffered a heart attack in 2003. Due to his physical limitations he bought a Freightliner and spent three years long distance trucking. Mom was always with him. While in California in 2013, Mom was involved in a very serious accident, which brought and end to their trucking. This deepened Dad's walk with God. Due to this tragedy, Dad and Mom's last years together were extra special as Dad felt a deep sense of responsibility for Mom's welfare. His family was very special to him and in his evening prayers he mentioned each of us by name. Dad was a great man who knew no stranger. Wherever he went he was" a breath of fresh air." After church he was surrounded by the little children. His pockets were always full of "rockets" which the children loved.

Dad was anxiously awaiting the birth of his newest granddaughter Alyssa Raquel who was born two days after his death.

Reg is lovingly remembered by his wife Lois, his children and their grandchildren; Michelle and Carl Dueck and their son Nicholas, Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Joanne and Greg Toews, and their children Taylor and Akiya, Stenen, Saskatchewan; Shauna and Brian Isaac and their children Jayden, Carter, and Austin; David and Cynsee Colberg and their children, Brooklynn, Zachary, Teagan, and Alyssa, all from Rimbey, Alberta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicolajs and Irina, brother, Daris, his father in law, David Wohlgemuth, brother in law, John Wohlgemuth, a son in law, Corey Friesen and infant granddaughter Meghan Colberg.
