HOLMES
Mr. Robert "Bob" James Holmes, 83, of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully, with family at his side, in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Sunday March 14, 2010. Bob is survived by one brother Neal (Pearl) Holmes of Valleyview, Alberta, and two sisters, Helen (Herbert) Dearing of Westerose, Alberta, and Elizabeth Ibbotson of Rimbey, Alberta. He was predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth Holmes; two brothers, Thomas and Daniel; three sisters, Beatrice McMillan, Evelyn Norstrom, and Mildred Norstrom; four brother-in-laws, Lester McMillan, Leslie Norstrom, Everett Norstrom, and Garvin Ibbotson. In addition, Bob leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob had a full and varied life. Before farming full time, Bob was a field hand, logger, sawmill operator, truck driver, and he manned a BP gas station in North Vancouver. He enjoyed fishing with friends on the ice or in the waters off the West Coast. For Bob the company was as important as the size of the fish he landed. After retirement Bob refined his skills as a woodworker. His projects can be found in the homes of many of his family and friends. Most importantly, he was a loyal friend and respected brother and uncle and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at Lakedell Community Centre on Friday March 19, 2010. Internment followed in the Lakedell Cemetery.
