February 15, 1938 - September 13, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ronald Warren Smith announces his passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Area Two on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Ronald was born in Innisfail, Alberta on February 15, 1938 to Harris and Eunice Smith. He was a hard worker, farming until 2007, in addition to welding. Welding and tinkering in his shop were the second loves of Ron's life. He liked nothing better than to dismantle a tractor or engine, and rebuild it.
Ron spent the last few years of his life rebuilding antique tractors in his shop with his son, Brent. He loved to show them off and would haul them to Lacombe for Lacombe Farm Days where his W-30 would be on the threshing machine, and his other W-30 would be entered in the tractor pull.
Ron was also a fantastic fabricator. He had a photographic memory and only needed measurements to build something. Ron built dune buggies for his children, which they used until the buggies were worn out.
He also loved to visit the casino on occasion and gamble a little. Ron and his wife, Judy also spent a few winters in Arizona that they thoroughly enjoyed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron will be forever remembered by his loving wife, Judy; and his four children: Tina (Lee) Robson, Ronald (Robyn) Smith Jr., Brent (Allison) Smith, and Tracey (Allen) Moggy; as well as nine cherished grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
He will also be forever remembered by his sisters, Janet McAuley, and Ethel Williams; and his brother, Robert Smith; in addition to many nieces and nephews, other family members, and many close friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents; and his grandchildren: Amanda Gray, Kenneth Smith, and Ashley Smith.
A Private Graveside Service to Celebrate Ron's Life with his close, immediate family will take place at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House. If friends desire, memorial tributes in his memory may be made directly to the charity of one's choice. Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting: www.ofc-ltd.ca
