Rose Marie May, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the hospital in Rimbey, Alberta. Rose is survived by husband, Lee; sons, Kenneth, Brian, Robbie, Joe and their families including 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
From her birth in Abbey, Saskatchewan to her death on Thursday, she nourished people around her with her love and her faith.
Born on January 6, 1936 to Leo and Isabel (Sautner) Helfrich, Rose was the eldest of three children and spent her formative years on the family farm.
On August 7, 1954 she married Ivan Leroy (Lee) May in Marengo, Saskatchewan and after two baby boys they worked their way to the Rimbey area where they started their own farmstead. There more sons became part of the family and Rose helped with farm work and kept the home active and welcoming to many friends and family members. A well-respected member of her local community, Rose dedicated much of her life to giving back to society and helping people. A lifelong learner, she also loved reading, writing about family history, and researching local and family history.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church at 5509, 50th St. Rimbey, Alberta on Thursday, May 31 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation at 10:30 A.M. Father Les Drewicki will be celebrating. Interment will follow at West Haven Cemetery, west of Rimbey on Hwy 53 and north on Rge. Rd 31.
Family, friends and others whose lives Rose touched are invited to join her family in the hall of St. Margaret's Church for a luncheon following the interment. Messages of Condolence may be left for the family at www.myalternatives.ca.
