HORNE, Ruth Winnifred
Ruth Horne (Thompson) passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2012 at the Rocky Mountain House Care Centre.
She will be forever remembered by her loving husband of 59 years, Roger, and her children, Dennis (Heather) and Terry (Stu). She is also survived by her brothers, Harry (Clara) Thompson of Qualicum Beach, B.C., David (Lois) Thompson of Lethbridge, Douglas (Sheila) Thompson of Edmonton, and her dear sister-in-law, Dina Horne of Edmonton. She has many nieces and nephews who will miss her.
Ruth was born in Calgary, and raised in Skiff, AB. and Rocky Mountain House. After she married Roger they raised their family in Calgary, Vancouver, Ponoka, and then returned to Rocky Mountain House in 1970. Ruth was an active member of each community she lived in and has touched many lives with her compassion and gentleness. She still maintained close ties to friends in Ponoka and Rimbey. Most recently, Ruth spent time as a volunteer at The Next to New Store in Rocky. She treasured her time as a member of The Order of The Eastern Star.
Ruth and Roger enjoyed travelling and were fortunate to visit many locations in Europe, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. They also spent some winters in Arizona. Ruth made friends wherever she went.
Please join us in a Celebration of Ruth’s Life, to be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Rocky Mountain House on Tuesday May 15, 2012 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
