In Loving Memory ~

Sharon "Sherry" Gail McCreadie of Rimbey, Alberta passed away far too quickly on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the age of 76 years. Goodbyes hurt the most, when the story was not finished...

Sherry was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on May 14, 1948, to Audrey and Boris Zurkan. She attended the West Curtis School, and then continued her studies at the Portage Collegiate Institute where she excelled in school life.

As a young lady, one of her favourite adventures was attending Expo 67 in Montreal by train. Sherry later enrolled in Mrs. Yonda's Business School which helped pave the way for her future career.

She worked for the Campbell Soup Company in Portage la Prairie during her first years of employment, which was an exciting time for a smart and determined young person. Being one of many female employees, Sherry insisted that they had the right to wear pants at work, and they won!

Sherry met the love of her life and best friend, Jim McCreadie, and they were married on October 9, 1971 in Portage la Prairie. Sherry and Jim moved to Alberta in 1981, settling in Fort McMurray. She continued her accounting career with Suncor Energy, Keyano College, and finally with Altech Communications, where she worked until her retirement.

Following retirement, Sherry and Jim relocated to Rimbey, where new friends were made quickly in the small community. They spent much of their time volunteering with Central Alberta Raceways, where the racetrack and their home became the hub of many social activities and get-togethers - which Sherry thoroughly enjoyed.

Sherry possessed a heartfelt love for many things in her life. She treasured her family and friends immensely and valued any time that was spent entertaining; along with good food, amazing conversation, and lots of laughter.

Sherry took pleasure in the beauty of maple trees and she had an eye for great fashion. Some of her favourite activities were gardening, reading, and listening to music; especially the songs of the Beatles that were staple tunes played in her home. Sherry was a ferocious and deeply-loved Mama Bear - an unwavering inspiration to her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews.

Her love of life and family will

live on in our hearts forever!

Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim; and her siblings Kal (Val) of McLeese Lake, British Columbia; Wendy of Sylvan Lake; Rodney (Diane) of Big Valley, Alberta; and Tanis (Mike) of Whitemouth, Manitoba.

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; in addition to a giant circle of cherished friends.

Sherry was predeceased by her parents; and several other family members.

A Celebration of Sherry's Life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations in her memory may be made directly to the Drag Strip at Central Alberta Raceways (www.caraceways.ca). Donations can be forwarded by mail to: Box 88, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or sent by e-Transfer to: drag@caraceways.ca. Condolence messages may be forwarded to the family by visiting: www.ofc-ltd.ca
