October 3, 1953 - August 1, 2021
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, dad and grandpa, Stanley Joseph Landry. He passed away, surrounded by his family, at the Rimbey Hospital on August 1, 2021 at the age of 67 after a short but very hard-fought battle with cancer.
Stan was born in Truro, Nova Scotia on October 8, 1953 to parents Joe and Norva Landry (nee Hutton), the third of five children. Because his dad was in the Army, Stan and his family moved often and lived in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and British Columbia before settling in Edmonton and then finally in Bentley when Stan was in Grade 10.
Stan met the love of his life, Lorna (Stefanyk), in Bentley and they were married in 1979. They raised three daughters, Kristy, Shannon, and Dani. Stan cherished his daughters and was proud of them every day of their lives. Stan was overjoyed to gain a son-in-law when Shannon married Sean in 2010 and was so proud to be a Grandpa to their boys Cohen (2012) and Foster (2014).
Family and friends were such an important part of Stan's life and he treasured his time with them. Some of his favorite past times were family walks in the bush, watching and coaching his daughters' sports, going to weekly happy hour, golfing with his friends, all of life's joys with Lorna, and drinking a beer or two with family or friends.
He was easy to get along with and brought a smile to the faces of those around him, usually with a joke or teasing sentiment. Stan was a kind, generous, funny and loving man and he impacted the lives of many. He is loved immensely and missed greatly.
Stan was predeceased by his parents, and he is survived by his beloved wife Lorna; his children Kristy, Shannon (Sean), and Dani; his treasured grandsons Cohen and Foster; his siblings Gerry (Jo-Ann), Joanne (Roy), Len (Jean), and Ray; Lorna's siblings and their spouses; as well as many special nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles, and many, many lifelong friends.
Please join our family on Tuesday August 10th at 1 pm at the Bentley Ag Centre for a Gathering of Remembrance to share stories and celebrate Stan's life.
If you would like to pay tribute to Stan, please consider making a blood or monetary donation to Canadian Blood Services in his honor. Donating blood was very important to Stan and he donated as often he was able to, over 125 times.
A recording of Stan's service will be available at www.wilsonfuneralchapel.ca afterwards for anyone who was unable to attend.
