GUGALA


Mr. Stanley "Stan" Gugala of Rimbey, Alberta and formerly from Winfield, Alberta passed away in the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Monday August 27, 2012 at the age of 89 years.


Born in Warsaw Poland, Stan emigrated to Canada after WW II and settled in Calgary, Alberta. He joined the Polish Canadian Club there where he met his future wife, Maria Tomaczyk. Together they had three children and raised them in Calgary. Stan was a carpenter all his life and enjoyed what he did. He was an avid sportsman, either hunting, camping, fishing, the outdoors was his passion.


Stan and Maria sold their home in Calgary in 1974 and bought a farm in Winfield, Alberta. It was a place they loved and it reminded them of home in Poland. They embraced the community and it's people and they happily lived there for the rest of their lives.


Stan was predeceased by his loving wife Maria in 1999 and by his grandson Wally in 2000.


He leaves to celebrate his life and the memories his son Stanley and wife Margaret and their two children Nathan and Amelia, his daughter Susan and her husband John and Susan's daughter Heather and her two children Taran and Kiera, Susan's son Robert and his wife Nikki and their daughter Chloe, his daughter Maryann and her husband Alan and her surviving son Matt and his wife Tracy and their two children Stephanie and Cheyenne.


Funeral services were held from the Winfield Community Centre on Friday August 31, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dave MacMillan officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Clare Cemetery in Winfield, Alberta.
