DOLAN

Mr. Thomas James Dolan of Bashaw, Alberta passed away on Feb 14, 2011 in St. Mary's Hospital in Camrose, Alberta after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 58 years. Born in McLennan, Alberta on April 19, 1952, Tom's family moved to Golden B.C. in 1962, where Tom went to school and worked as a journey man. This is where he met the love of his life Annette and married in 1972. This is also where they had their two children Rod and Greg. Tom enlisted on June 1st 1980 with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and graduated from Depot in Regina on December 5, 1980. Tom was stationed in Westlock, Rimbey, Pincher Creek and Bashaw, where he retired from the force in 2001. Tom also served as an RCMP United Nations peacekeeper in Bosnia from November 1994 until June of 1995. Predeceased by his father James, Tom is survived by his loving bride Annette of Bashaw, two sons; Rodney (Sandy) Dolan of Gull Lake, Alberta, Greg Dolan (Julie, Courtney, Joshua Dykeman) of Tees, and four grandchildren; Justin, Shealee, Mackenzie, and Carter. Tom also leaves to mourn his mother Erica Dolan of Bashaw and three sisters; Patricia Dolan of Winnipeg, Evelyn (Henry) Russell of High River, Alberta and Sandy (Danny) Munroe of Princeton, British Columbia, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Tom loved hunting, fishing, camping, golf and carpentry. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends but cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. They were the Apples of his eye. A Celebration of Tom's life will be held from the Bashaw Community Centre on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Don McFadyen officiating. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bashaw District Support Services for Palliative Care.
