THURBER

Mr. Thomas "Tom" G. Thurber of Winfield, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre ~ Acute Care, Rimbey on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the age of 75 years. Tom was born in Herronton, Alberta on October 26, 1934. He lead a very interesting life; from leaving home at a very young age, to taking part in the Korean War, to politics, as well as farming. Tom was a very hard worker, but at the same time, he also possessed an enthusiastic zest for life. He made many friends and acquaintances throughout his thirteen years as a MLA in the Drayton Valley-Calmar constituency. Tom held a deep love for his children and grandchildren, and treasured the time he spent at his ranch. "He will be forever loved … and greatly missed."

Tom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two sons, Russ (Gita) Thurber of High River, and grandchildren, Melissa and Matt; and Randy Thurber of Texas, U.S.A. He will also be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two brothers, Neil (Ina) Thurber of Calgary; and Alex (Lynn) Thurber of Arizona, U.S.A.; his sister, Margaret (Mel) Lindeman of Delburne; as well as a host of other relatives, many friends, and acquaintances. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Herb and Mary Thurber. With respect for Tom's wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer.
